We had the pleasure of working with three amazing women: authors, bloggers, philanthropists, educators, innovators, public speakers… but most importantly MOTHERS!
The Empowering Mothers Benefit Brunch was hosted by Christie Havey Smith (author of “From 3 Feet Off the Ground ), Shannon Ryan (author of “The Heavy Purse” “The Lemonade Stand” and “A Parents Guide to Raising Financially Confident Kids”) and Stephanie Dreyer (blogger of “VeegMama.com”). They hosted a brunch that was aimed at lighting the fire of inspiration for mothers, while raising money for a great cause.
All proceeds of the brunch benefited the Good Shepherd Shelter, of Los Angeles.
Each of the women gave a short presentation, tailored around what being a mother means to them, and how it has shaped their career. They outlined goals they’ve set for themselves as individuals and as mothers.
Being a mother myself, it is always refreshing to hear other Moms speak about motherhood. It is truly amazing how you feel an immediate sense of camaraderie with (almost) complete strangers.
I still consider myself a “new” parent, even though our daughter turned two in April… I haven’t even begun to stretch the surface of what being a parent truly means. She teaches me more about myself in a week than I did on my own in years.
These women are accomplished mothers, and have achieved personal triumphs that are truly inspiring. It was also really nice to have Jake hear a snippet of what the trials, and triumphs of motherhood look and sound like.
