Harper Highlights – January 2014

What she’s saying: Started off the year saying Melmo, but now says it correctly – Elmo with the E. We tried saying Melmo to remind her that it is not Elmo, it’s Melmo, but she insists. I guess when you watch enough Sesame Street you will eventually learn Melmo. She also says Cook-O instead of Cookie. Cook-O is Cookie Monster. She wears Cookie monster socks and loves them. She says Pup-O and Ab-A. Something about the “ie” “y” sounds she doesn’t have yet. Let’s hope this phase lasts because it’s so cute.

She says, “Oh noooo” a lot. Very dramatically, too. If she drops something or something is wrong, it’s “Ohhhh, noooo!” Instead of Daniel Tiger, she’s Ki-ya. She’s gotten very into Ki-ya lately, even preferring it over Elmo (Sesame).

What she’s watching: Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhoood. Sesame Street. The occasional Kings game.

Other cute things she’s doing: She picks up her fake camera and says “ptchers” and “cheeeeese”. She also points it towards herself and takes selfies. Or she is using it backwards.

She loves to “dance fast” like Elmo.

She is really good at counting and knows all the way through 10.

One of her favorite games is “bouncy game” with Daddy. We play it on Daddy/Mommy’s bed. Daddy says, one, she says two, daddy says three, and then she says GO! GO is probably one of the cutest words she says, too.

She loves to cook in her little kitchen and everything was hot for a while. She’s starting to become more sensitive to cold, although it’s all relative living here in Southern California where it doesn’t get below 45.

She loves to call Jazzy and hold her leash on walks.

She can be a little attached and whiny when Mommy is around, but is very independent, too. Mommy went to the Kings outdoor game and her and Daddy had a great night walking around Manhattan Beach and sharing a gluten/free vegan pizza from Sammy’s.

She spends at least one day every week at GJ’s and Grammy T’s and Papa Lux’s. It’s nice having them so close.

In early January she said goodbye to Papa Jay until his next visit. They had a great time playing “Where’s Harper’s hand?” together. She would hide her hand and then punch him in the face (lightly).

Other noteworthy events: She got probably her worst bout of the cold/flu yet. It lasted about two weeks with the weekend after Mommy’s birthday being the worst. One night she woke us up with such a bad cough and had trouble catching her breath – very scary for the parents. Her Mommy turned 27 on the 14th and got a new camera from Daddy and a new flash from Grammy T and Papa Lux – hence the great photos. You’re welcome Harp!

We love you <3
