We can’t thank Kat & Brian enough for having us at their wedding in Dayton, Ohio. Living in Los Angeles, we hadn’t officially met Kat & Brian, but we had done a Skype session or two to get better acquainted. They turned out to be a wonderful couple — super nice, down for the adventure, calm, easy-going — we honestly can’t say enough good things.
We arrived in Dayton the day before the wedding and decided to explore (who knows when we’ll be in rural Ohio again) + Hailee was in desperate need of a TV to watch the Kings Stanley Cup finals.
After a quick bite to eat at the only Vegan restaurant in town, we found ourselves at a bar in downtown Dayton. The sticker on the beer cooler read, “Dayton’s Alright. If you’ve never been anywhere else.” We love a town with a good sense of humor so we knew we were in for a good weekend. After chatting with a few locals about why we were in town (they were pretty excited to hear about our photography adventures), we made our way back to the hotel for a little shut-eye.
The big day for Kat & Brian came early – about 7:30am for hair & makeup. From there, we had a short break while we prepped for the “first look”. The venue and setup for our “first look” and Bride & Groom portraits was gorgeous. It happened to be in the exact location where Brian had asked Kat to be his wife. We couldn’t think of a better spot for the location of their “first look.” Luckily for us, it had rained nearly the entire week before we arrived so everything was extra lush and green. We followed them over the rivers and through the woods for nearly 2 hours before meeting up with the Bridal party. It was amazing and SO WORTH it to have that much time for photographs.
The rest of the day went off without a hitch, culminating in some gorgeous images during the golden hour. Let me just tell you, having daylight until almost 9:30pm is amazing. Hope you enjoy.
