The StoryCuckoo’s Nest West was born a few months before our daughter, in our small 1-bedroom beach cottage in Manhattan Beach.
Hanging just above the gate to the duplex was a faded, but distinguishable sign that read “Cuckoo’s Nest West”. We didn’t put it there and we’re not sure who did, although there are some interesting theories, but we thought it was fitting for our somewhat off-beat, slightly irreverent lives at that time.
We felt a little CUCKOO (especially Hailee), we needed a NEST for the impending addition to our family, and well, for us the road leading WEST is what brought us together.
At first, we were a little hesitant to go into business together, but we’ve found molding our creative styles make for a unique product that our clients are excited about. We’re both natural storytellers and are passionate about making the world a more beautiful place.
CNW really isn’t a physical place, so when we outgrew the 1 bedroom and moved on, the name (and the sign) came with us. It’s a symbol of where we got started, how we want to live, and the way we want our creations to impact the world.
